Industrial Visit To CSIO

CGC-COE Industrial Trip to CSIO of CSE students on 26th Sept, 2013
CSE 5th semester students of CGC-COE visited Central Scientific Instruments Organization (CSIO), sector-30, CHD is a national laboratory dedicated to research, design and development of scientific and industrial instruments. It is one of the constituent laboratories of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research, India an industrial research and development organization of the country. CSIO is situated at Sector 30C, Chandigarh (India).
CSIO has infrastructural facilities in the areas of microelectronics, optics, applied physics, electronics, and mechanical engineering. R&D programme are in food & agriculture, health and rehabilitation, avionics, snow and seismic monitoring in strategic sector, landslide and structure health monitoring for public safety, and bio and nano sciences.
Students reached CSIO auditorium, a presentation was played in which there was an overview of CSIO projects done and their achievements over a year. Then tour coordinators of institute took students to their different R&D labs and interacted with the research scholars who provided the information about the latest technologies.

First they visited Mechanical workshop which was carrying 5 lathe machines, milling machines and grinding machines and their overview was given by CSIO instructors and second workshop was of network where they told about adhoc network in Emergency conditions. Advanced Mechatronis and Industrial Automation lab focuses on the assembly unit named Mechatronis Automation; main components used hydraulic pressure for lifting the parts or assembling products and for the movements of the arms of machine. The instruction was programmed in PLC using sensors. The program was identifying the Color, Depth, and sequences of the products to be lifted.  At last we visted OPTICAL WORKSHOP, there were different units.  1st units was POLISHING of lenses which are used in HUD, microscopes etc. 2nd unit was of ACCURACY tests of the lenses created above. 3rd unit was HOLOGRAM generators which were placed on a shock absorbing tables and ASPHERIC facility where multiple lenses were combined to form a single lens. Last unit was a STIMULATOR of LCA(light combat aircraft)and further research was going on for creating HUD glass for cars. HUD(HEAD UP DISPLAY) for fighter aircraft TEJAS was on display. Then refereshment was provided.

Earn While You Learn!

Earn While You Learn Programme was launched nearly four years ago but has not been able to find many takers and reason for same could also be lack of publicity of the programme.
This programme is primarily designed to enable students from across the disciplines to opt for part time jobs with companies like Competent Synergies, TBSS, IMRB etc.
Basically the jobs offered are either of Call Centers or for Reserach Surveys/Marketing of services products. The part time jobs entail   4- 4.5 hours work starting from 4:30 or 5:00 PM, 6 days a week. The emoluments range from 3500-5000/- per month. Company Pick up & Drop facility on subsidized rates may also be available.
The Students are allowed some days(without pay) to appear in Sessionals/University exams.

Amdocs Code Mania 2013

We are pleased to announce that Amdocs India is going to conduct Amdocs Code Mania 2013 and has invited applications from the Best Coding Brains of B.Tech–(CSE,IT,ECE,E&TC), M.Tech–(CSE,IT,E&TC) and MCA students of 2014 and 2015 passing out batches. The details are as follows:

Eligibility:
-  3rd and 4th Year students from: BE, B.Tech (Streams: Computer Science, IT, E&TC, E&C.)
-  2nd and 3rd year students from MCA
-  2nd year students from ME/M.Tech (Streams: Computer Science, IT, E&TC.)

The Interested students can give their names to their class councilors.

Engineer's Day Event

The CGC College Of Engineering celebrated Engineer’s day on 13/09/2013. In this celebration our worthy Chairman Sir, Mr. Satnam Singh Sandhu, Our President, S. Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, Our Executive Director , Dr.(Col.)SPS Bedi, the Director , Dr. Jagtar Singh Khattra, Our Principal , Dr. Rajneesh Talwar, and all the HODs were present to grace the occasion.

Firstly, the students from all the departments went ahead and displayed all their projects and represented their respective departments. The Chairman and all the other guests of honour arrived at 11 o’clock and observed all the projects with a brief description by the students. Then at 11:15 they entered the main auditorium in which they were welcomed and the event was started by Saraswati Vandana. Then Our Principal Sir addressed the occasion and welcomed all the guests of honour to the event at 11:25. This was followed by lighting of the lamp by the VIPs at 11:40.

After the Initial events were over, the heads of every department gave brief presentations about their respective clubs and also told in brief about the various technical or non technical activities conducted by the clubs. This marked the official inauguration ceremonies of the clubs at 11:30. Dr. (Col.)SPS Bedi initiated this ceremony.

Afterwards our Chairman addressed the gathering and boosted the morale of students by giving beneficial guidelines to them at 12:00. He announced a club fund of Rs. 25000 for every club.

At 12:10 a token of remembrance was given to all the VIPs from The Principal of CGC College Of Engineering.

 

After This A short Lunch Break was given to all the students as well as the faculty at 12:30

 

All the students and HODs along With Principal Sir gathered again to see the events organized by the clubs at 01:30.

At 1:30 was a Technical Quiz organized by the Kerberos Club of CSE Department. There were 4 teams named Google , Microsoft ,Apple and Oracle. There were 3 rounds, Multimedia, MCQ and Buzzer round. Students actively participated in the quiz and the winning team i.e. Team Microsoft was presented Trophies and Certificates by the Principal.  The participating members also received participation certificates.

At 02:15 was a Guest Lecture organized by the Mechno Club of Mechanical Department.

At 03:00 was a skit organized by the Electechular Club of ECE Department.

After All the Events Were Successfully finished, a vote of thanks was given by a student and this marked the End of a wonderful Occasion.

Fresher's Party!

Department of Computer Science & Engineering of CGC-COE for the first time had a privilege to arrange the “Fledgeling Bash-2K13” fresher party to welcome 2013 batch which was a huge success with a collaborated efforts, hard work and disciplinary control of our respected Principal Dr. Rajneesh Talwar, HOD (CSE) Dr. Sandeep Singh Kang, faculty and co-ordinate arrangements from seniors of 2013 batch.  It was under the guidance of faculty coordinators Mr. Hardeep Singh, Mr. Navtej Singh, Mrs. Sheetu Jain and Ms. Meenu Talwar that the group of student coordinators could work properly in such a short duration.
Fresher’s party of CSE Department was held on 14th of September, 2013 in the college premises was full of colorful events. Moreover the agenda was interaction for 1st year student with their faculty, seniors and college environment.

Guest Lecture Organised By Kerberos Club!

A Guest Lecture of 2 hrs on “Digital Circuits “ was delivered by Prof. Y.V.Ramaia , for the target audience of BTech 3rd sem CSE  on 29th August 2013. This was organized by KERBEROS club of  CSE department. Prof. Y.V.Ramaia  has a total of 25 years of excelling experience in industry and academics.
      
  


The objectives of the lecture were to make aware the students about the shortcuts used in solving the numericals related to Digital Electronics. Everything discussed was also in concern with the way students have to prepare for GATE exam.
   
     
The speaker started the session by sharing his own experiences, followed by a brief discussion of number system used in digital Electronics and a special emphasis on sequential circuits.
The session has proven to be informative as queries of many students audiences were answered clearly by Prof. Ramaiah.
The Lecture concluded by discussing some numericals related to computer architecture that actually occured in GATE exam.
