Industrial Visit To CSIO

CGC-COE Industrial Trip to CSIO of CSE students on 26th Sept, 2013
CSE 5th semester students of CGC-COE visited Central Scientific Instruments Organization (CSIO), sector-30, CHD is a national laboratory dedicated to research, design and development of scientific and industrial instruments. It is one of the constituent laboratories of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research, India an industrial research and development organization of the country. CSIO is situated at Sector 30C, Chandigarh (India).
CSIO has infrastructural facilities in the areas of microelectronics, optics, applied physics, electronics, and mechanical engineering. R&D programme are in food & agriculture, health and rehabilitation, avionics, snow and seismic monitoring in strategic sector, landslide and structure health monitoring for public safety, and bio and nano sciences.
Students reached CSIO auditorium, a presentation was played in which there was an overview of CSIO projects done and their achievements over a year. Then tour coordinators of institute took students to their different R&D labs and interacted with the research scholars who provided the information about the latest technologies.

First they visited Mechanical workshop which was carrying 5 lathe machines, milling machines and grinding machines and their overview was given by CSIO instructors and second workshop was of network where they told about adhoc network in Emergency conditions. Advanced Mechatronis and Industrial Automation lab focuses on the assembly unit named Mechatronis Automation; main components used hydraulic pressure for lifting the parts or assembling products and for the movements of the arms of machine. The instruction was programmed in PLC using sensors. The program was identifying the Color, Depth, and sequences of the products to be lifted.  At last we visted OPTICAL WORKSHOP, there were different units.  1st units was POLISHING of lenses which are used in HUD, microscopes etc. 2nd unit was of ACCURACY tests of the lenses created above. 3rd unit was HOLOGRAM generators which were placed on a shock absorbing tables and ASPHERIC facility where multiple lenses were combined to form a single lens. Last unit was a STIMULATOR of LCA(light combat aircraft)and further research was going on for creating HUD glass for cars. HUD(HEAD UP DISPLAY) for fighter aircraft TEJAS was on display. Then refereshment was provided.
